Netanel Seri is a professional voice-based performer with a BA in Acting from the Norwegian Theatre Academy, specializing in contemporary music theater. As a teacher, he incorporates both humor and rigor into his pedagogy. He is deeply inspired by Ruth Wilhelmine’s artistic use of extended vocal techniques, such as throat singing, and Ditte Berkeley’s (Teatr Zar) work with polyphonic folk music.
In the voice workshops, participants are invited to act as individual vocal researchers. Under Netanel’s guidance, they explore undiscovered vocal qualities in a supportive environment. Sessions typically begin with warm-ups that integrate movement with vocalization. Depending on the group’s needs and possibilities, the practice evolves into singing and extended vocal techniques, which are later applied to improvisational structures and choral singing. The repertoire is primarily rooted in global folk traditions, such as Georgian polyphony and Sacred Harp songs.
